Job Summary

The Technician – Mechanical Technology is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical systems and machinery used in food production and processing. This role ensures that all food equipment operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with sanitation and safety standards. The technician plays a vital role in minimizing equipment downtime, supporting daily operations, and maintaining the reliability of food processing and kitchen machinery.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of food equipment such as mixers, grinders, ovens, fryers, conveyors, refrigeration units, and packaging machines.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Install, align, and calibrate mechanical equipment and components.
  • Conduct mechanical adjustments, part replacement, and equipment testing.

Equipment Performance & Food Safety

  • Ensure machines operate efficiently and meet food safety and quality standards.
  • Follow proper sanitation and hygiene procedures when servicing food equipment.
  • Identify potential safety risks and report hazards immediately.
  • Ensure equipment complies with operational and regulatory requirements.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Execute scheduled preventive maintenance programs for food and industrial machinery.
  • Perform lubrication, cleaning, calibration, and component replacement.
  • Monitor machine condition to prevent unexpected breakdowns and downtime.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and repair logs.
  • Document preventive maintenance activities for management and audit purposes.

Operations & Engineering Support

  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and production teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Assist in equipment modification and process improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance to machine operators on proper usage and basic care.

Workplace Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with company safety rules, food safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, Certificate, or Associate Degree in Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical or Maintenance Technician; experience with food equipment or food processing machinery is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including motors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Skilled in mechanical tools, diagnostic instruments, and repair techniques.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Physically capable of handling tools, machinery, and maintenance work.
  • Willing to work shifts, overtime, or on-call schedules as needed.
  • Willing to work full-time in Tondo, Manila.
  • Additional certifications (welding, machining, HVAC, refrigeration, hydraulics) are an advantage.
